Pesticides and Fish and Wildlife Resources

The USF&W National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia is offering a pestiside class.

An overview of the major types of pesticides that may affect fish and wildlife resources, typical routes of exposure, assessing potential risk, and environmental fate of pesticides in terrestrial and aquatic systems. Portions of Federal laws that relate to pesticide use will be described. A description of current pesticide use policy and principles of integrated pest management will be provided. Participants will learn procedures to evaluate non-target effects, and considerations for listed species. Case histories describe different types of pesticide use and field investigation procedures. Useful references and information sources about pesticide safety and use and fish and wildlife risk are provided.

Deaths of Law Enforcement Officers by Motor Vehicle Crashes

Deaths of law enforcement officers (LEOs) in the line of duty have been tracked by the Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since the 1930’s.
The data has been provided to law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and analyzed to provide for a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding LEO deaths. The data is then analyzed and used for training purposes to create more realistic scenarios.

Wyoming Game And Fish Department Game Warden Competitive Examination

All law enforcement personnel including game warden, senior game warden, and regional access coordinator positions are selected by competitive examination, per Wyoming statute. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is offering the game warden competitive examination at several locations between July 10, 2010 and September 11, 2010, as listed below. The testing sites will proctor the exam. Grading of the exams, notification to applicants, and selecting candidates for interviews will be conducted by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Traditionally, there have been very few permanent openings; however, we anticipate increased employment opportunities due to several upcoming retirements. Information regarding exam dates and locations will be updated periodically.

Salary;Monthly salary varies depending upon duty assignment, ranging from:
Game Warden - $3,564 - $4,192
Senior Game Warden and Regional Access Coordinator - $4,569 - $5,375

JERSEY SHORE, Lycoming County – With the last guilty plea, Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) Eric Seth, of Centre County, wrapped up a complex deer case from 2008, which resulted in a total of six convictions or guilty pleas and $14,743 in fines and penalties.
